I recently went through a rigorous divorce and custody battle for my 2 kids with my wife of 4 years. When she first left she told me to take care of the kids, she didn’t love me anymore, and she just wasn’t coming home. I was shocked, I had no idea there were even problems enough that she would want to up and leave. After a few days had past I started to realize she was 100% serious. I got a call from an apartment complex running a check on her and she was trying to use one of my checks to put down on an apartment. Well that was it, i changed the locks on the house doors and sold the extra car and hired Nashville Fathers rights to help me. They gave me a lot of advise on what to do next, being that we were not married at the time of the children’s birth I was not even considered a custodian by the court even though i signed the birth certificate and we had since gotten married. Well they said i had two options, we could take a DNA test to determine if i was the father or have her somehow admit it.. Needless to say the next day they had a document signed by her admitting I was in fact the father of the kids. That was step one. They told me to keep a record of everything, including recording all conversations. It was a long hard divorce, at one time the mother actually had custody of the kids and I was paying child support, even had to buy tires for her car. In the end believe it or not, with all the help and advise i received from the guys at Nashville Lawyers I ended up with full custody, was supposed to get child support paid to me but I waived that so it wouldn’t put a burden on the mother. I give all the thanks in the world to these fellas, without their help I would be another so called dead beat dad with the mother not letting me see my kids and all, but with their help I was able to prevail in the end.
